Credentials

Private Practice

I am a Registered Psychologist and Psychoanalyst and have been in private practice in downtown Toronto since 1981.

Education

I received my Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Toronto in 1973. I was awarded a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, a National Research Council Scholarship and other awards during my training. I graduated as a Psychoanalyst from the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis in 1987.

Teaching Experience

I was a Professor of Applied Psychology at the University of Toronto from 1972 to 1993. At first I taught courses in cognitive psychology and did research on perception, memory, and literacy. Later I developed and taught courses in psychoanalysis. I have published many articles in internationally recognized books and journals.

Currently I am on the Faculty at three psychoanalytic training institutes in Toronto -- the Toronto Institute of Psychoanalysis, the Toronto Institute for Contemporary Psychoanalysis, and the Institute for the Advancement of Self Psychology. I also teach in three programs at the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society --the Advanced Training Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, Fundamentals of Psychoanalysis, and the Extension Program. In addition, I provide private supervision for psychoanalysts and psychotherapists.
